Fun Fair - Well! We all got wet, but we had fun.
Many Many thanks go out to our wonderful volunteers, especially our face painters and our food servers. The wonderful Balloon Man can be contacted HERE in case anyone wants to hire him. We certainly will again. Have a great summer everyone! Come back to us August 17th, 2009 for the first day of school.
Zumba at Delmar Harvard
Zumba is slang for "to move fast and have fun" and is an aerobic fitness class based on latin dance steps and more. Hugely fun plus easy-to-follow, Zumba has built-in motivation, burns hundreds of calories, and works out the entire body.
Zumba classes will be held in an air-conditioned spacious classroom on the top level of the Delmar Building Tue & Thu afternoons from 3:50-4:50PM. The classes will be led by Delmar-Harvard parent who has been certified as a Zumba instructor since December of '07. They are just $5/class, pay-as-you-go, or buy a 10 class punchcard. All monies after the first 10 participants per class will be donated to the PTO.
It is recommended that we all contact our physicians before embarking on any new fitness program. Call Grace Chung at 985-8019 to reserve a spot in the class!
SUMMER FUNDRAISING
We have a new one this year! Use the Papa John Pizza code of SLFDHVD when you order online, and we'll get a 20% contribution from 6/1/09 to 8/31/09!. To order online, click HERE.
As always, use your Schnucks escrip card to give us a 1-3% donation of your total, and save those boxtops! Fatima will be running the program this next year, thank you so much Fatima.
Kindergarten Enrollment
Enrollment for Kindergarten has started! While some of the forms are available online, not all of them are. Ms. Nelson in the front office has complete packets. New this year is an eye exam form. All children in Missouri entering Kindergarten are required to have an eye exam. Allow about an hour for the exam.
Please call the office at 290-4391 and arrange a school visit. We are always happy to show off our school. If you'd like to talk to a parent, feel free to email either Marty or Celina.
Kindergarten Playdates
The playdates will be at the Delmar Harvard Playground June 13th from 10-12 am and July 18th from 10-12 am. We will have cold water, freezy pops, and answers to your questions. Come meet your child's classmates, their parents and some of the PTO. We understand how nerve-wracking this is, and we will walk you through.
Kindergarten Orientation
Kindergarten Orientation will be August 12th from 10-12 am. Please have your child bring their supplies to drop off, the first day is so much easier if they are not toting so much stuff. They will get to meet their teacher in a relaxed setting and choose a seat. We'll have supply lists for you as soon as the teaching team gets them to us. PTO members will be on hand to anwer any questions you might have.
Back to School Rally
The Back to School Rally will be August 1st, from 9-12 am on the grounds of the McNair building. They need volunteers to help stuff backpacks, hand out drinks, supervise haircuts, etc. If you can help, please contact Kelly Mueller at 283-7776 or email her at kmueller@u-city.k12.mo.us. This is a great event, bring your kids to start the count-down to the beginning of school.
Backstoppers donation for Officer King

Since 1959, BackStoppers has provided emotional support and also financial assistance to spouses and children of all local and county police officers, firefighters, publicly-funded paramedics and EMTs and volunteer fire units killed during the line of duty.
Box Tops - New Fundraiser
Please go register on the Box Tops website, we'll get even more box tops. They have also set up an online shopping portal, with many big merchants (Gap, Lands End, Nordstrom, Pottery Barn). Once you register, if you click through to the portal, our school will get between 1-6% back. Like the Schnucks fundraiser, this is at no cost to you. There are monthly drawings for bonus box tops, although we haven't won one of these yet.
So far this year we have made $123. Bring in your box tops!
Schnucks eScrip Community Card Fundraiser
Delmar-Harvard is participating in the Schnucks eScrip card fundraiser. You can pick up a card from any Schnucks or email us at delmarharvard_pto@yahoo.com and we'll get one to you. This fundraiser doesn't cost DH anything to participate, and up to 3% of your total purchases will go back to the school! Would your grandmother or aunt like a card? Neighbor? We'll send them one too.
To register your card:
You will be asked for a Group ID. The Group ID for Delmar-Harvard is: 6494910
Once you've registered, you can begin using the card at Schnucks. To use it, just present your card to the cashier every time you shop. The sooner you register, the sooner your purchases will benefit DH!
Before and After School Child Care Available Through YWCA
